Surgical procedure contributions

Jacono's study, "The Minimal Access Deep Plane Extended (MADE) Facelift", led to a surgical procedure and combined the features of a deep plane face lift with those of the short-scar minimal access cranial suspension lift. The intended result is a more significant vertical motion of the mid-face and jaw line, leading to a more natural looking outcome and also produces greater neck rejuvenation with a notable decrease in the need for additional tucks and hidden scars.

Another study, "Combined Transconjunctival Release and Midface-lift for Postblepharoplasty Ectropion Repair", was co-authored by Dr. Benjamin Stong and appeared in the May/June 2010 issue of Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Volunteer work

Jacono was national chairman for Face to Face, an organization that serves children who have been injured in war or have suffered facial deformities at birth, from 2007 to 2010. Face to Face was founded by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and matches its member surgeons with children needing reconstructive plastic surgery. They cooperate with the National Outreach Violence Project to match member surgeons willing to donate plastic and reconstructive surgeries to women who have been in abusive relationships.

Jacono also serves as senior advisor to "About Face: Making Changes", an annual gala in the New York City area which raises funds for survivors of domestic violence. He has been a volunteer surgeon for Beyond our Borders, which brings children in developing countries to the United States for surgery to repair disfigurement caused by cancer, trauma and birth defects, most notably cleft lips and cleft palates. In addition, he has donated his surgical skills to "Healing the Children", an organization that treats similar disfigurements in Columbia and Thailand.
