A die is a specialized tool used in the manufacturing industry for cutting or shaping materials mostly using the press. Like prints, dies are generally tailored to the items used to make. Products made with dies range from simple paper clips to complex pieces used in advanced technology.

Die forming

Forming dies is usually made by a tool and a die maker and put into production after being fitted into a press. Die is a metal block used to form materials such as sheet metal and plastic. For the manufacture of vacuum plastic sheets only one form is used, usually to form a transparent plastic container (called a blister pack) for merchandise. Vacuum formation is considered a simple thermoforming printing process but uses the same principle as mold formation. For the formation of metal sheets, such as car body parts, two parts can be used: one, called blow , stretching, bending, and/or emptying operations, while another part called block dies securely clamp the workpiece and provide similar stretching, bending, and/or discharging operations. The workpiece can pass through several stages using different tools or operations to get the final shape. In the case of automotive components there will usually be a sliding operation after the main shaper is performed and then additional crimping or rolling operations to ensure that all sharp edges are hidden and add to the rigidity on the panel.

Components die

Dead steel, also known as a die cutter, is used for cutting sheet metal and softer materials, such as plastic, wood, cork, felt, and paperboard. The cutting surface of the dice is the edge of a hardened steel strip, known as the steel rule. These steel rules are usually located using chainsaw or laser cutting lines in plywood. Dead marriage can be a piece of hardwood or steel, a male form that matches the profile of the workpiece, or can have a suitable groove that allows the rules to nest. Rubber strips are sandwiched with steel rules to act as stripper plates; the rubber solids under-strokes and above-strokes it pushes the workpiece out of the die. The main advantage of steel-die rule is the low cost to make it, compared to solid die; However, they are not as strong as dead, so they are usually only used for short-term production.

Rotary die

In a broad sense, rotary die is a cylindrical dice that can be used in manufacturing. However, this most often refers to cylindrical molds used to process soft materials, such as paper or cardboard. Two rules are used, cutting rules and creasing. This is for corrugated boards that are more than 2 mm thick. Rotary dies faster than dead flat.

This term also refers to the dies used in the roll forming process.

Pulling wire

Make a dead wire has a hole in the middle. Wires or rods of steel, copper, other metals, or alloys go to one side and are lubricated and scaled down. The most prominent tip of the cable is usually shown in the process. The wire end is then guided into the dice and rolled into the block on the opposite side. The block provides the power to pull the cable through the dice.

Dead is divided into different sections. First is the corner of the entrance that guides the wire to the dice. Next is the angle approach, which brings the wire to the nib, which facilitates the reduction. Next is the pads and help back. Lubrication added at corner of entrance. The lubricant can be shaped soap powder. If the lubricant is soap, the friction of the wire drawing heats the soap into a liquid form and coats the wire. The wire should never really come in contact with the dice. A thin lubricating coating must prevent metal contact with metal.

To pull a large rod into a fine wire a series of several dies are used to obtain progressive gradual reduction in diameter.

The standard wire gauge used to refer to the number of dies the wire passes has withdrawn. Thus, higher numbered wire gauges mean thinner wires. Normal 22-gauge phone cord, while the main power cord may be 3- or 4-gauge.
