Plot

The episode begins with Vicki (Kayla Ewell) unable to control her bloodthirsty and she attacks Tyler (Michael Trevino) in her car. Stefan (Paul Wesley) arrives just in time to stop him and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) forces Tyler to forget everything that happened.

Everyone in town is looking for the missing Vicki, including Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) who wants to skip school and join the search team. Elena (Nina Dobrev) knows the truth but she can not tell her and she tries to dispute it from a fruitless search.

Vicki was at Salvatore's house trying to adjust to her new nature. Stefan gives him some blood animals and explains why he does not have to feed humans while Damon disagrees with him and wonders why the newspapers do not mention Logan's (Chris Johnson's) death at all. Elena appears to check what happened to Vicki and tell Stefan that the whole city is looking for her including her sister and she does not know what to say to her. Stefan promises to keep an eye on Vicki until she can control herself and help her as much as she can.

Stefan goes and gets more animal blood for Vicki and she leaves Elena alone with her. The two girls start talking about Jeremy and when Elena asks Vicki to stay away from him because it's not safe, Vicki gets irritated and clutches her neck. He tells Elena that he can see whoever he wants and then he leaves.

Damon tries to find out what is going on and who from town knows about vampires and he overhears the mayor and his wife talking at the Grill. He then approached Mrs. Lockwood and tried to force her so she would tell him everything but it did not work because she was wearing a bracelet with vervain. He is still trying to find some things while drinking and flirting with him.

Meanwhile, Bonnie (Kat Graham) is at her grandmother's house (Jasmine Guy) learning about her family history as a magician. He can not wait to learn how to do a spell but his grandmother tells him that the spell is not for fun and he has to go to school.

Caroline (Candice Accola) is trying to decide what she will wear for a Halloween party when talking to Bonnie. She also gave Bonnie a witch costume (which annoyed her) and Damon's crystal because she did not want it anymore.

Damon decides to take Vicki out of the house for a while to have fun despite Stefan's objections. She follows them in the courtyard where Damon shows the Vampire's abilities, including how fast they can move. Vicky uses the ability to escape from Salvatore's home and get to his home. He tries to get in. However, he can not get to Matt (Zach Roerig) invites him in. Stefan appears to look for him but Matt asks him to leave after Vicki tells him not to invite him in.

Everyone ends up at a Halloween party, including Vicki, something that makes Elena panic because Jeremy is also there and she does not want Vicki near Jeremy. Elena, along with Stefan, starts looking for Jeremy who is already with Vicki. They were both making out and Vicki bit him. On the taste of his blood, he loses control and tries to attack him. Elena arrives there and pushes her away from Jeremy, but Vicki throws her away. Stefan arrives and asks Elena and Jeremy to hide when she searches for Vicki.

Vicki catches Elena and Jeremy as they try to escape, she throws Jeremy aside and bites Elena. Stefan arrives there and influences him when he drinks from Elena and he dies.

Meanwhile, Damon meets Bonnie at the party and she sees him wearing his crystal. She asked him to return it to him because it was his but Bonnie refused. He then tries to take it back but when he touches it, it burns his hand. He was surprised by it while Bonnie freaked and ran away. She gets to her grandmother's house telling her that the crystal necklace belongs to one of her most powerful ancestors; he showed him a photo and it was revealed that it belonged to Katherine's maid, Emily Bennett, who was a wizard in 1864.

Jeremy loses for losing Vicki but Stefan takes him away from the parking lot. He summoned Damon for help that came to the scene, finding Elena crying over Vicki's body. Elena accuses him of what happened and he hit her. Damon tells him that he's bleeding and he has gone, (because of the urge to bite and take his blood) something Elena did. She runs to Matt who asks Vicki but Elena tells him that she has not seen her, because she does not know how to tell him that Vicki is dead.

Elena returns to the house where Stefan waits for her on the porch. He brings Jeremy home and he himself is destroyed because he can not help Vicki. Elena checks Jeremy who does not understand what's going on and wonders why everyone around him has to die. Elena comforts her and then returns to Stefan asking her to make Jeremy forget what happened tonight. Stefan explains that because he feeds the animals, he can not do it right but Damon shows up and volunteers to do it if that's what he really wants. Elena says that's what she wants and tells Damon what to say to Jeremy.

Damon walks into the house to force Jeremy while Elena tells Stefan that he hopes he can forget everything too, even meet him, but he can not because he does not want to forget how he feels about her. Damon again tells him that he has done what Elena asked. Elena returns home, leaving the two brothers alone, staring at each other.

Reviews

Lauren Attaway from Star Pulse gave the A-rate to an episode stating that Vicki's death opens up many new potential storylines for the show.

Lauren Kalal from Fandomania rated episodes with 4.5/5. "This episode drew all the blows, and made you beg for more.It raises the Vampire Diaries from the wrong pleasures of being a television not to be missed. I, for one, reinvested in the potential of this event, now after itself as something beyond the ordinary fare of fellow CW performances. "

Robin Franson Pruter of Forced See rated the episode by 3/4 saying that this episode proved a bit of a disappointment after Lost Girls. "A little time is spent developing character and relationships that will move forward in the series, but this episode focuses on Vicki's decline and final destruction."

Josie Kafka from Doux Reviews rated the episode with 3.5/4 saying that it was amazing and Vicky's death was a surprise for her. "Killing a player member is almost certain lately, but I was surprised that VD did it very quickly: they could easily create a mini-arc where Vicki terrorized the city, and that's what I expected, but that's not what this show shows : it's about how people react to trauma, change, and sadness - and Vicki's death, and everything that happens before and after, is a serious turning point for some of our characters. "

Alice Jester from Blog Critics gave a good review for the episode that says that although the Halloween theme on the vampire show looks many times, The Vampire Diaries successfully stand out by moving along the building drama. "What do you know, it's kind of a happy ending, it's like a tragic vampire story on Halloween. That's probably why this event goes on.Of course, there are some plot holes (Stefan and Elena let Damon go in with Jeremy himself after what Vicki do it to him?) But considering this is still a new show building from scratch, I'll let them slide for now. "

Popsugar of Buzzsugar provides good reviews for episodes that say it's the best of the season. "The perfect Halloween arrangement to play Vicky's vampire transitions, Bonn's exploration of his mysterious genealogical history, and the exposure" The Council. "

Lucia of Heroine TV also gave a good review for the episode that said Vicky's death did not make her cry because she was not happy with the character transition to the vampires. "There are too many storylines from the books I want to see growing up, before going off the beaten track with a new vampire addict being a drug addict Do not get me wrong - I do not want the event followed by books too close, but there are some milestone that I want to get in season one. [...] On a more positive note, this is a big episode for Damon, and we really have to see a different side of the bad-boy vampire. "

Note

Ewell revealed in an interview with Michael Ausiello for Entertainment Weekly that Jeremy's original script killed his character (Vicky) instead of Stefan, but that changed in the process since Williamson and Plec thought it would be more good if Stefan killed Vicky.
