A hickey , hickie or love bite in English English, is a sign of bruising or bruising caused by a kiss or skin suction, usually in the neck or arm. While biting may be part of the betta, sucking enough to detonate small shallow blood vessels under the skin.
The origin of the word comes from its original meaning "acne, skin lesions" (c.1915); may be an understanding of the extension and spelling variations of the preceding word which means "little gadget, device, uncertain object" having an unknown origin (1909).
Hickeys usually last from 5 to 12 days and can be treated in the same way as other bruises. Ways to reduce the emergence of hickey include the latest icing hickeys to reduce swelling, rub it with a cold spoon to remove bruises, and apply warm compresses to the older hickey to dilate the vessels and increase blood flow. They can be covered with concealer or powder that matches the patient's skin color, or a fake tan. In addition, clothing items such as scarves, snoods, turtle necks, or sleeves can be used to cover hickey.
