The Octonauts is a British children's television series, produced by Silvergate Media for the BBC CBeebies channel. The series is animated in Ireland by Brown Bag Films but uses English voice actors. The TV series is based on an American-Canadian children's book written by Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy from Meomi Design Inc.
The Octonauts follow an underwater crew consisting of stylish anthropomorphic animals, a team of eight adventurers living in an underwater base, Octopod, from where they go with underwater adventure with the help of an aquatic vehicle fleet.
The subject reminds us of the Star Trek and Thunderbirds mixed with Jacques Cousteau. Despite its fictitious technology, exotic creatures and crew locations are based on native marine animals in their natural habitat.

The original books were first published in the United States by Immedium in 2006, and re-published in England by Harper Collins in 2009. Six titles by Meomi have been published:

TV series
In 2010, The Octonauts was adapted into 52 episodes of the CGI animated television series produced by Chorion and Brown Bag Films. It was first aired in the UK on October 4, 2010 on CBeebies, a BBC television channel for under 7 years. The first series ended in February 2011, but it continues to run as a repetition. The second series of 22 episodes starts in November 2012.
The Octonauts held their first show on the Disney Channel in January 2012, but many of the characters were redubbed to give them an American accent (Hispanic in the case of Pesos and Pinto), though Captain Barnacles, Kwazii and Prof. Inkling retains their original English sound. It has also been demonstrated in Ireland (RTÃÆ' â € ° Two), Canada (Treehouse TV), and Australia (ABC Television). The show has been translated and displayed in French (TF1), Spanish and Portuguese (Discovery Kids Latin America), Finnish (YLE TV2), Welsh (S4C) and Slovak (STV 2).
The series was created with the help of marine biologist Dr. Lara A. Ferry-Graham and Dr. Michael H. Graham, who previously worked on Finding Nemo .
The TV show is episodic, with every 11 minute episode seeing them encounter unusual but real marine creatures as they explore the strange underwater world. Often they have to find important biological or behavioral facts about the creature to save it or themselves from harm. The stories usually feature three main characters: Captain Barnacles, Kwazii and Peso, with five other Octonaut acting in supporting roles.
In the TV series they used five sea-inspired underwater vehicles called GUP-A to GUP-E, GUP-F-driven pedals, powered by Captain Barnacles and Kwazii, which appeared in Episode 10 of Serie 1 ( Speedy Sailfish), a narwhal Gup-S submarine that can split halfway across the land, a Gimp-V-driven vegimal train, and a powerful and powerful tracked GUP-X, first appeared in Episode 52 of the Series 1 ( The Great Christmas Rescue ).

TV spin-off books
A series of short books based on individual episodes of the TV series being published by Simon & amp; Schuster. These titles can be distinguished by the label "As seen on TV" on its cover and are not written or illustrated by Meomi. The books have the same title as the episode that became the base.
Reception
The TV series is well received when shown on CBeebies in the UK and by ABC in Australia. According to the author's website, it is a pre-school age show no. 1 in the UK, and the first pre-school show was ranked in the top ten by older viewers (ages 4-15). This event is the top-rated ABC program for children aged 5-12 in January 2011 in Australia, with ABC calling the first month an unprecedented "online and on-air" success. It has been rated 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb. In 2013, Octonauts was nominated for (but not winning) two awards: the International Emmy Award in the "Children - Preschool" category and the Irish Film and Television Award in "Best of Children/Youth Program" . Octonauts DVD set box is the 4th bestselling Son TV DVD in Amazon UK on April 7, 2013.

The BBC has released three Octonauts DVDs, consisting of episodes from the first series along with the associated "Creature Reports". DVD UK is Region 2 format, can be played in European DVD player:

A set of boxes from all three DVDs was released under the title Octoauts - The Collection in September 2012.
Australia
Octonauts is distributed in the 4 DVD region of Australia by Roadshow Entertainment on behalf of ABC.
The first four DVDs have been sold together as the Octonauts Starter Pack since 2016.
Spin-off
The Octonauts brand has been licensed by the production company for a variety of spin-off activities. These include Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure, a rollercoaster themed in the CBeebies Land of Alton Towers game arena and themed rooms with CBeebies Land Hotel. There are also mobile performances called Octonauts Live , which have toured the US and other countries.
The Octonauts app was launched for iOS on November 17, 2016, produced in partnership with Night and Day Studios.
