NBA Season 2015-16 is the 70th season of the National Basketball Association. The regular season begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls, with their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 2016 NBA All-Star Game is played at Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 14 February 2016. The regular season ends on April 13, 2016. The playoff starts on April 16, 2016 and ends with the 2016 NBA Finals on June 19, 2016, with Cleveland Cavaliers became the NBA Champions for the first time in franchise history after beating the Golden State Warriors in seven games.

- On June 18, 2015, Shawn Marion officially announced his retirement after playing 16 seasons, winning the NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.
- On June 23, 2015, Andrei Kirilenko officially announced his retirement after playing 13 seasons in the NBA.
- On July 2, 2015, Kenyon Martin officially announced his retirement after playing 15 seasons in the NBA.
- On July 22, 2015, Stephen Jackson officially announced his retirement after playing 14 seasons, winning the NBA championship with San Antonio Spurs in 2003.
- On August 11, 2015, Elton Brand officially announced his retirement after playing 16 seasons in the NBA. On January 4, 2016 he returned to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.
- On September 23, 2015, Jason Richardson officially announced his retirement after playing 14 seasons in the NBA.

- On November 18, 2015, the Houston Rockets fired head coach Kevin McHale after five years with the team. Their assistant coach J. B. Bickerstaff will be the temporary head coach.
- On December 20, 2015, the Milwaukee Bucks announced that assistant coach Joe Prunty would take on the role of head coach while Jason Kidd recovered after taking unlimited leave to undergo hip surgery.
- On January 10, 2016, the Brooklyn Nets sacked head coach Lionel Hollins after two years with the team. Assistant coach Tony Brown is named as the interim head coach.
- On January 22, 2016, Golden Country Warriors coach Steve Kerr returned after suffering a complication after the surgery, taking over from Luke Walton, who led the Warriors to a 39-4 record. Walton returned as an assistant coach for Kerr.
- On January 22, 2016, the Cleveland Cavaliers fired head coach David Blatt after 1 1/2 seasons with the team. Assistant coach Tyronn Lue was named the new head coach after signing a three-year deal with the Cavaliers.
- On January 26, 2016, Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd returned after complications after a right hip surgery took over from Joe Prunty who led the Bucks to an 8-9 record.
- On February 1, 2016, the Phoenix Suns sacked head coach Jeff Hornacek after two and a half seasons with the team. The Suns assistant coach, Earl Watson, was appointed head coach. On April 19, the Suns decided to promote Watson as their full-time coach over the next three years.
- On February 8, 2016, the New York Knicks fired head coach Derek Fisher after 1 1/2 seasons with the team. Knicks' assistant coach, Kurt Rambis, was appointed as the temporary head coach for the remainder of the season.

It will be the eighth and final year of the current TV contract with ABC, ESPN, TNT and NBA TV before the new nine-year contract begins in 2016.
ABC announced that it would add to the game on Saturday night followed by the NBA Sunday Showcase and resume their game on Sunday afternoon. The first Saturday night game is Saturday, January 23, 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the Chicago Bulls.
Arena
- This season is the Sacramento Kings final season at the Sleep Train Arena before moving to the new Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento. The Kings play their last regular season game there on April 9, 2016 against Oklahoma City Thunder.
- On October 26, Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller Sports & amp; Entertainment announced a new 10-year naming rights agreement for the team arena with Vivint's home security provider, changing the arena's name to the Vivint Smart Home Arena.
- The Philadelphia 76ers began referring to their home arena, Wells Fargo Center, only as "The Center" in team correspondence, as Wells Fargo is not a corporate partner in the team. The team's redesigned floors initially did not emphasize the sponsorship of the team arena, with Wells Fargo Center logo text made in white with the floor inside the minimal font. However, television and radio broadcasts still use full arena names. Finally the logo text was restored to a normal-sized black font in early January after input from the owner of the Comcast Spectacor arena, with the 76ers signing an "official bank" non-signage agreement with Firstrust Bank.
- The Phoenix Suns US Airways Center home arena was renamed the Talking Stick Resort Arena.
