Bellagio fountain
The Fountains of Bellagio is an outstanding choreographic water feature with show set for light and music. (See the musical fountain.) The show takes place in front of the Bellagio hotel and can be seen from many lucrative spots on the Strip, both from the street and surrounding buildings. The show takes place every 30 minutes in the afternoon and early evening, and every 15 minutes from 8 pm to midnight. Two minutes before the water show begins, the nozzle begins to break the surface of the water and the lights that illuminate the hotel tower turn into purple (usually), or red-white-blue for certain music. The show can be canceled without warning because of strong winds, although the show usually runs with less power in the face of wind. Single performances may be missed to avoid disruption with planned events. Additional performances can occur for special occasions including weddings. The fountain display in the choreography to various pieces of music, including "Time To Say Goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli, "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood, "Your Song" by Elton John, "Viva Las Vegas" by Elvis Presley, "Luck Be a Lady "by Frank Sinatra," My Heart Will Go On "by CÃÆ' à © line Dion, and" The Sound of Silence "by Disturbed.
The fountain is in an artificial lake of 8 acres (3.2 hectares). Contrary to the urban myth, this lake is not filled with greywater treated from the hotel. The lake is actually served by freshwater wells drilled a few decades before irrigating a golf course previously on the site. The fountain actually uses less water than watering the golf course. They combine pipelines with more than 1,200 nozzles that allow for the display of a fountain that is coordinated with more than 4,500 lights. It is estimated that the fountain cost $ 40 million. The fountain was created by WET, a design company specializing in inventive fountains and water features architecture.
Four types of nozzles are used for various effects:
- 208 Oarsmen - jets with different ball motions
- 798 Shooters - shoot water up
- 192 Super Shooters - send a water explosion as high as 240Ã, ft (73 m) in the air.
- 16 Extreme Shooters - send a water explosion as high as 460Ã, ft (140 m) (added in 2005)
This fountain is the largest fountain in the world when it first opened but then surpassed by the fountains of Dubai Bay and Okada Manila respectively in 2010 and 2017.
Conservatory and botanical garden
The hotel also contains Conservatory and Botanical Gardens . There are five seasonal themes that the Conservatory experiences: Chinese New Year, spring, summer, autumn, and winter. From January to mid-March, the Conservatory celebrates the Lunar New Year with a screen dominated by flowers of bromeliads and orchids, as well as animals in a particular year celebrated by the Chinese zodiac. The theme then changes to the spring view, which lasts until May, and usually features a butterfly house as well as many varieties of tropical flowers. Over the Memorial Day weekend, Bellagio then switched to an all-American summer display, featuring great recreations from Liberty Bell, as well as several American flags throughout the Conservatory.
The summer display is usually very patriotic featuring many red, white, and blue colors, and is dominated by hydrangeas. From late September to Thanksgiving weekend, the Conservatory wore the Autumn screen featuring several varieties of chrysanthemum and several large pumpkins. After Thanksgiving Conservatory switched to its winter holiday look, which is dominated by a large Christmas Tree and some kind of poinsettia. Throughout the year colorful displays are decorated with lots of fragrant flowers and usually contain a fountain.
The Conservatory is located next to the hotel lobby and is open to the public.
