Super Bowl XXXIX is an American football game played between the American Football Conference (AFC) champion New England Patriots and National Football Conference (NFC), champion of the Philadelphia Eagles to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the season 2004. The Patriots defeated the Eagles with a score of 24-21. The game was played on February 6, 2005, at the Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, the first Super Bowl to be played in the city.
The Patriots, who entered the Super Bowl after setting a regular 14-2 season record, became the first team since 1997-1998 Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl in a row. New England also became the second team after the Dallas Cowboys won three Super Bowls in four years. The Eagles made their second Super Bowl appearance after posting a regular 13-3 season record.
The match was very close, with the team fighting until 14-14 at the end of the third quarter. The Patriots then scored 10 points in the 4th quarter with 2-yard touchdown run Corey Dillon and 22 minutes field goal Adam Vinatieri. The Eagles then cut their deficit to 24-21, with Donovan McNabb's 30-yard touchdown to goalkeeper Greg Lewis, with 1:48 remaining in the game but unable to maintain a comeback. Overall, New England forced four turnovers, while the Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch named Super Bowl MVP to record 133 yards received and tied a Super Bowl record with 11 catches.
To avoid possible incidents similar to the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show during the previous year, the league chose Paul McCartney as a "safe" option to perform during the Super Bowl XXXIX rations. The game broadcast on Fox was watched by around 86 million viewers.

Patriot seeks to become a dynasty
New England finished the regular season with a 14-2 record, only favored by the Steelers' 15-1, and ranked 7th in the obtained yards (5,773) and fourth in the printed points (437).
The main acquisition of the Patriots before the season was a veteran running back Corey Dillon, who joined the team after playing 7 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. In his first six league season, Dillon averaged over 1,250 yards per year, including a record single game (278 yards, but has since been broken) against the Denver Broncos on October 22, 2000. In 2003, injuries, management and coaching staff of Bengals, and other off-field issues made it limited to just 541 yards throughout the season. By the end of the 2003 season, Dillon had lost his initial job to run back Rudi Johnson, and thus demanded to be traded. Although many observers question how effective 30-year-old Dillon will recover after recovering from his injuries and his ability to function in a team environment, Patriots decides to sign back on run in exchange for a second draft round.
Dillon became a significant offensive weapon for the 2004 Patriot, recording 1,635 yards rushing (franchise record) and 12 goals, both career highs, and named Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career. He also caught 15 passes for 103 yards and other goals. His contribution helped lead the team to break the NFL record for the most consecutive regular season win (18), record overall overall victory in sequence (21) and reach the second best regular season record of the year on 14-2. The team's only defeat during this year was the Pittsburgh Steelers, which ended with a league's best regular-season record of 15-1, and a 29-28 loss to Miami Dolphins on ABC Monday Night Football.
Another weapon in the Patriot offensive back line was a run back Kevin Faulk, who rushed for 255 yards, recorded 26 receptions for 248 yards, returned 20 punts for 113 yards, returned 4 kickoffs to 73 yards, and scored 3 goals total. Fullback Patrick Pass also emerged as a big contributor, hurrying as far as 141 yards, catching 28 passes for 215 yards, and getting another 115 yards on kickoff returns.
Pro Bowl Quarterback Tom Brady remains at the helm of the Patriots, finishing 288 of 474 (60.8 percent) of his baits for 3,692 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Although Deion Branch's wide receiver, New England's greatest threat, lost most of the season through injury, he recorded 35 receptions for 454 yards and 4 touchdowns. David Givens wide receiver eventually became the team's main receiver with 56 catches for 874 yards and 3 touchdowns. The wide receivers David Patten also contributed with 44 receptions for 800 yards and 7 goals, and the tight end Daniel Graham had 30 receptions for 364 yards and 7 touchdowns. In special teams, the pro bowl kicker, Adam Vinatieri has the best season of his career, leading the NFL in field goals made (31), percentage of field goals (93.9) and scoring (141 points)
In defense, Patriots are plagued by injuries, especially in their secondary. Defensive backs Tyrone Poole and Ty Law suffered a season-ending injury, while the safety of Eugene Wilson, who led the team with 4 interception, lost several matches. To compensate for the loss, the following players are promoted as starters:
- Rookie cornerback Randall Gay, who has not played at all in the first three games of the season, and does not start until week six.
- Cornerback Asante Samuel, who usually only plays in dime formations.
- Safety Earthwind Moreland, who quit the team's training team and only played in three games throughout his 5-year NFL career.
- Veteran broad receiver Troy Brown. Head coach Bill Belichick used Brown in high school during the training camp, giving him playing time there during his pre-season and seeing Brown do very well.
With their secondary patchwork, the Patriots are only ranked 17th in the permitted few yards (3,400) and 22 in completion are allowed (315). However, they were ranked 7th in interception (20) and 10 in the least touchdown allowed (18). Most importantly, New England continues to win despite injury. Brown really became very effective playing as defender, second in the team with 3 interception. Safety Rodney Harrison is also an impact player, leading the team with 138 tackles while also recording 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.
Up front, Patriot 'line of defense is anchored by Pro Bowler Richard Seymour, who recorded 5 sacks and 1 misplaced recovery. New England also still has a trio of impact on their linebacker veterans: Pro Bowler Tedy Bruschi (122 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 70 yards back), Willie McGinest (9.5 sacks, 1 missed recovery, and 1 interception) , and Mike Vrabel (71 tackles and 5.5 sacks), along with Ted Johnson. Vrabel also often plays in tight final position during offensive games near the opposing goal line, recording 2 touch receptions.
Eagle back to Super Bowl
The Eagles earned a place in the NFC Super Bowl in 2004 after 3 consecutive defeats in the NFC Game Championship to St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who won the Super Bowl XXXVII that year), and the Carolina Panthers, respectively. The Eagles hired Andy Reid as their head coach in 1999 after two consecutive defeats. In the same year, they used their first-round pick in the NFL draft (the second overall) to select quarterback Donovan McNabb. Although they finished the 1999 regular season with a 5-11 record, they became the playoff team in 2000, with McNabb throwing for 3,365 yards and 21 goals while also rushing for 629 yards and 6 other goals.
The Eagles achieved the best regular season record of the conference during the 2001, 2002 and 2003 combined seasons with a total of 35 wins from 48 games but lost in the NFC Championship in each of the 3 years. Prior to the 2004 season, the Eagles traded for wide receiver Terrell Owens into an impact player to help take them to the Super Bowl.
Owens joined the team after 8 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He is considered one of the top earners in the league, but he is also widely regarded as a troublemaker because of controversial touchdown celebrations and his tendency to berate his teammates during media interviews. Nevertheless, Owens became an in-game Eagles' threat, finishing the season with 77 receptions for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns.
McNabb had the best season of his career in 2004, completing 300 of 469 (64 percent) baits for 3,875 yards, 31 goals, and 8 interceptions, making it the first quarterback to ever throw more than 30 touchdowns and less than 10 interceptions in a single season. He also rushed for 220 yards and 3 goals. Todd Pinkston's wide receiver is also a reliable target, recording 36 catches for 676 yards.
The Philadelphia game runs not as strong as their passing attacks, ranking only 24th in the league on the rushing yard (1639). Running back Brian Westbrook led the team with a rushing 812 yards and 3 goals, but he also led all the NFLs running backs in receiving with 73 receptions for 706 yards and 6 touchdowns. Veterans ran back Dorsey Levens was also a great contributor with 410 yards rushing. The Eagles offensive line is led by Pro Bowls handling Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan and the center of Hank Fraley.
Three of their four starters in the defensive middle class were named Pro Bowl: Cornerback Lito Sheppard (1 sack, 5 interceptions, 172 yards back and 2 goals), Michael Lewis safety (88 tackles, 2 forced groping, 1 sack and 1 interceptions for 40 yards back), while their fourth starter, Sheldon Brown cornerback, also enjoyed a solid year (89 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced) groping, and 2 interception). Their defense line is moored by Pro Bowl defensive, Corey Simon (5.5 sacks) and Jevon Kearse defense (7.5 sacks, Pro Bowl) and Derrick Burgess. Linebacker Pro Bowl, Jeremiah Trotter, who just started 9 games, recorded 69 tackles and 1 sack.
The Eagles started the 2004 regular season with seven consecutive wins before suffering a 15-1 Steelers loss. After that, they finished the season with a 13-3 record. Their only other 2 defeats in their last 2 matches of the season, when they decided to rest all their starter because they already grabbed the # 1 NFC seed, and thus gained on the field in the playoffs. However, during December 19, a 12-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Owens was badly wounded on "overcome the horses" by Cowboys defensive defense Roy Williams and had to miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
Playoffs
Meanwhile, the Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts, 20-3, holding the league's highest scoring team with 522 points total just one field goal, Indianapolis's lowest total point since their 2003 season opener. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw for 4.557 yards during the regular season, and set the NFL record for most goals passing in regular season (49) and ranked highest quarterback (121.4). Running back Edgerrin James earned 2,031 combined rushing and receiving yards and scoring 9 goals. The wide receivers Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Brandon Stokley each recorded more than 1,000 yards and 10 goals received. However, the Patriots limit Manning to 238 passing yards with 1 interception and no touchdown, and James is only 39 yards rushing. The Patriot also held the ball for 37:43, including 21:26 in the second half, and recorded three long scoring drives which each took over 7 minutes from the hour. One of the reasons New England was able to hold the ball for so long was because Dillon's rushed. He finished the game with 23 carry for 144 yards and 5 receptions for 17 yards.
The Patriot then defeated the first-seeded Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game, 41-27. Although Pittsburgh has beaten New England, 34-20, during the regular season and leads the league in the least total number of yards allowed, they can not stop the Patriots. Brady throws 207 yards and 2 goals; Dillon rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown; and Branch, who came from his injuries, recorded 4 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown, along with 37 rushing yards and another touchdown on 2 bring. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (who had struggled the previous week against the New York Jets) was intercepted 3 times, and ran back Jerome Bettis, Pittsburgh's leading rusher, held just 64 yards.
Super Bowl pregame news
Owens was released to play on the Super Bowl XXXIX, defying the doctor's orders by playing on his injured ankle containing 2 screws and metal plates.
Another great story is the loss of potential Patriots from both the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator at the end of the season, and how it could affect the team in 2005. On 12 December 2004, about a month and a half before the game New England Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis signed contract to become head coach of Notre Dame starting the 2005 season. Rumors also circulated that Romeo Crennel's defensive coordinator would also leave the team to become head coach of Cleveland Browns (which eventually became true as Crennel and Browns agreed to contract a few weeks after the Super Bowl).
Due to injury in the tight end places, the Eagles were forced to sign Jeff Thomason, a former hard-working construction worker at the time, for a one-match contract for the Super Bowl. Thomason saw time during several plays, though there was never a ball thrown at him. This is his third Super Bowl, playing in two with the Green Bay Packers during the time of Andy Reid as Packer's assistant.
With this performance, Patriots became the 8th team to reach the Super Bowl for the fifth time. They join Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, and Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. They will join the Green Bay Packers in 2011 and the New York Giants in 2012.
The Eagles are trying to win their first NFL title since 1960 and the first championship for the city of Philadelphia since Musa Malone's "fo ', fi', fo '" during the 76ers run to the 1983 NBA Championship. With President George W. Bush being unveiled for the second time in January, the Eagles are also trying to end a successive defeat - teams in the city of Philadelphia have lost six straight championships during the presidential year, beginning with the loss of 76ers in 1977 Streak including the Eagles in the Super Bowl XV in 1981. 1989 was not included in the sequence, but 1977, 1981, 1985 (Flyers), 1993 (Phillies), 1997 (Flyers), and 2001 (76ers) were.

Broadcasting
The game was televised in the United States by Fox, with Joe Buck's main-by-play broadcaster and color commentator Cris Collinsworth and Troy Aikman. Pam Oliver (Patriot sideline) and Chris Myers (Eagles sideline) served as side reporters. This marks the first time since Super Bowl I that no network commentator ever called the previous Super Bowl game (although Collinsworth has worked three times before the Super Bowl aired as a pregame analyst). This is the last game that Cris Collinsworth aired as a member of the Fox NFL team, when he chose to sign up with NBC the following season.
James Brown hosts all shows with help from his FoxNFL Sunday friends Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson. Jillian Barberie serves as a weather and entertainment reporter.
After the game, Fox aired the special episode of The Simpsons ("Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass") and the inaugural series of American Dad! ("Pilot"), except in Philadelphia and Boston, where local news releases delayed one-hour premiere.
Entertainment
Pregame ceremony
Before the game, the performances came from Black Eyed Peas, Earth Wind & amp; Fire, Charlie Daniels, John Fogerty, and Gretchen Wilson. Shortly before the game, Alicia Keys sang "America the Beautiful," paying homage to Ray Charles, who died in June 2004. A joint choir of the US Military Academy, the US Naval Academy, the US Air Force Academy, and the US Coast Guard Academy (including members The Idlers) sang the national anthem accompanied by the US Army Herald Trumpets. This is the first time in more than 30 years of all service academies singing together - last time at the inauguration of both President Richard Nixon in 1973.
The military military lost the flyby man of this year's year is done by a pair of F/A-18 Super Hornets from VFA-106 on NAS Oceana and the latest pair of Air Force fighters, F-22 Raptor, flying from Tyndall AFB, training base for Raptor. The previous military flyby during the veteran salute was performed by 2 T-6 Texas trainers and the B-25 Mitchell bomber.
Coin-throwing ceremonies featuring young soccer players from Jacksonville: Tyler Callahan, Tyler Deal, Lawrence McCauley, and Jacob Santana; and NFL Junior Players Development coach of New Orleans Tamaris Jackson. They were billed as the first non-celebrities to participate in a coin toss.
For the third year in a row, each team takes the field en masse, following the tradition that the Patriots started in Super Bowl XXXVI. In a previously recorded video segment, Andover, a Massachusetts native Michael Chiklis introduced the Patriots, and Philadelphia-born Will Smith introduced the Eagles.
Show first half
Paul McCartney performed during a halftime show; his choice by NFL, show producer Don Mischer Productions and event sponsor, Ameriquest Mortgage, is considered a "safe choice", as it avoids the possibility of an incident similar to that of the Super Bowl XXXVIII part-time spark showing the controversy of the previous year. The McCartney collection consists of these songs:
- "Drive My Car"
- "Get Back"
- "Live and Let Die" from his career with Wings.
- "Hi Jude"
Themes
Taking the concept a step further, for the first time, the theme associated with the event: Building Bridges , symbolized by the theme logo, is represented by the Main Street Bridge, one of seven bridges across the St. Johns in the host city, and according to the League, symbolizes bridging a nation under the umbrella of NFL football. This theme is also used by Fresh Ministries in the Jacksonville Region in a big event entitled "Bridges of Peace," which features city officials asking people to unite for the Super Bowl and heal the wounds of segregation.
Presidential Appearance
Former Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton appear to support their bipartisan efforts to raise money for tsunami aid December 26, 2004 in Southeast Asia through the US Freedom Corps, an act that former President Bush described as "over-the-limit politics."
Game summary
First Quarter
On the first drive of the game, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb fumbled while being fired by New England linebacker Willie McGinest, and the Patriots recovered the ball in the 34-yard line of Philadelphia. Fortunately for the Eagles, direct replay challenge coach Andy Reid defeated the lows; Officials decided that McNabb had been driven out before the ball came out of his hands. Then in the quarter after each team has shot twice, McNabb completed a 30-yard pass to Terrell Owens, with a rough penalty crossing adding 9 yards, moving the ball inside the Patriots 20-yard line. However, linebacker Mike Vrabel fired McNabb for a 16-yard loss in the next game. In the following game, the Eagles once again appeared to reverse the ball: McNabb's pass was intercepted in the final zone by defensive Patriots back Asante Samuel, but was canceled by an illegal contact penalty on midfielder Roman Phifer, moving the ball back inside. 20 and give the Eagles the first down. However, McNabb's second chance was wasted as he intercepted Rodney Harrison's safety in the next game. This is the first red zone interception of Donovan McNabb this season.
The Eagles defense then forced New England into a three-and-out on the next possession, and Philadelphia got a great field position by receiving a kick on the Patriots line 45 yards. But again, they give up another turnover: a tight end L. J. Smith loses face while handled by defensive Randall Gay, and Eugene Wilson recovers the ball at 38.
Second Quarter
Elang's defense once again forced New England to kick the ball, and get the ball back on their own 19-yard line. Assisted by a pair of players from McNabb to wide receiver Todd Pinkston for a 17 and 40-yard take, the Eagles drove 81 yards in nine games and scored with a six-yard Mcnabb cross into Tight End LJ Smith, leading 7-0 with 9:55 left in second quarter. This is the first time New England trailed during the entire postseason. On the next drive, the Patriots move the ball into the four-yard Eagles line, especially on the drama by running back Corey Dillon, who captures two screens pass for 29 yards and rushes for 25. But quarterback Tom Brady fumbles the ball on a fake handoff Play-action pass and Philadelphia defender Darwin Walker restored him. However, Eagle can not take advantage of turnover and must punt after 3 plays. Eagles punter punter Dirk Johnson is only 29 yards away, giving Patriots a ball in the 37-yard line of Philadelphia. The Patriots then drove 37 yards to score in a 4-yard pass through Brady to David Givens receiver with 1:10 remaining in that period, tying the game 7-7 by halftime. It was only a second half tie in Super Bowl history and for the first time the first two games in the two quarters ended up tied.
Third Quarter
On the opening drive of the second half, Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch caught 4 passes for 71 yards on a drive that ended with a 2-page pass from Brady to Vrabel, who were marching in tight final on the game. The Eagles then tied the game with 3:39 remaining in the third period with a 74-yard, 10-play drive bordered by a 10-yard touchdown bait McNabb to run back Brian Westbrook. For the first time in Super Bowl history, this match will last until the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
At the start of the last period, the Patriots collect 9-play, a 66-yard drive scored tipped by 3 plays from a run back Kevin Faulk, who caught 2 tickets for a combined 27 yards and rushed once for 12. Dillon closed his driving with a 2-yard touchdown run to give Patriots a 21-14 advantage. Then after forcing the other Eagles' shoulders, the Branch made a spectacular catch, picking up the ball from Sheldon Brown's cornerback hand. The 19-yard hike, and a horrendous penalty in the Philadelphia defense line Corey Simon in the same game, set up Adam Vinatieri's 22-yard kicker goal with 8:43 left in the game to raise the score 24-14 in favor of New England. In the three Patriots' Super Bowl triumphs in this decade, they held a two-digit lead in the 4th quarter.
The Eagles responded with a long McNabb settlement for Owens. However, after reaching the 36-yard line of New England, McNabb took the bait over the head of Dorsey Levens, where Tedy Bruschi waited to intercept him in the 24-yard Patriots line. At this point, there is only 7:20 to play in the game, with the Patriots still up 10 points.
The Eagles did force New England to kick the ball, and get the ball back on their own 21-yard line, but with 5:40 remaining in the game. The Eagles then drove 79 yards in 13 dramas, but they used the full crowd for the entire drive. McNabb's 35-yard pass to recipient Greg Lewis cut the deficit to 24-21. Because the Eagles use a full crowd, the drive consumes 3:52 hours, and only 1:48 is left in the game at the time Lewis scored. Therefore, many sports writers then criticized the Eagle because it did not immediately go to the offense without a fuss at the beginning of the mastery. Anecdotal reports later came out alleging that McNabb suffered from a dry-up, and his teammates Jon Ritchie and Lito Sheppard had gone on record years later that McNabb suffered from dried-up leaves or vomiting, although there was no evidence of the existing video and the story yet to be confirmed. Hank Fraley said in an interview the day after the match that McNabb "nearly threw up" due to two big hits from Tedy Bruschi and Jarvis Green on a back-to-back game. McNabb himself denied that he vomited or dried up during the last trip, and Brian Westbrook later claimed that McNabb was just "coughing."
The Eagles failed to recover their next onside kick effort, with Christian Fauria catching the ball clean and sliding down to seal ownership for New England. The Patriot then played it safe by running the ball 3 times and forcing Philadelphia to use all the timeouts. British newcomer Josh Miller then pinned the Eagles back into their own 4 yard line with just 46 seconds left in the game. Philadelphia then tried a final push that was desperate to win or tie the game. But initially, McNabb was pressed to make a quick pass to Westbrook in the line of soccer practice. Instead of dropping the operand to stop the clock, Westbrook made a mistake by catching the ball and immediately dealt with no results, keeping the clock running and forcing the Eagles to return to the line of football practice to play them next without huddling. In seconds down, McNabb threw an incomplete pass aimed at Owens. Finally on the third down, McNabb threw a pass that deflected off Smith's fingertips and into Harrison's arms for an interception with nine seconds left. Tom Brady is on his knees to run out of time, earning a Super Bowl 3 in 4 years for the Patriots, and in the eyes of many people establishing themselves as dynasties.

Statistical overview
McNabb finished 30 of 51 passes for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns, but threw 3 interceptions and fired four times. McNabb's 357 yard tied with Joe Montana for the fifth in Super Bowl history and third from every quarterback, as Tom Brady holds the top spot with 505 meters in Super Bowl LII and Kurt Warner holds the following 3 places. Westbrook is the leading rusher of the Eagles with 44 yards, while also catching 6 tracks for 70 yards and touchdown and back 3 punts for 19 yards. Pinkston caught 4 passes for 82 yards, while Owens was the top receiver of the Eagles with 9 catches for 122 yards, but none of them scored.
Brady completed 23 of 33 passes for 236 yards and 2 goals. Dillon is the top rusher of the game with 75 yards and touchdown, and has 3 catches for 31 yards. Ran back, Kevin Faulk contributed 38 yards of running and 27 yards to receive.
The Super Bowl Branch records 11 catches tied to Cincinnati Bengals 'Dan Ross in Super Bowl XVI and San Francisco 49ers' Jerry Rice at Super Bowl XXIII. By coincidence, all three will be traded to Seattle Seahawks: Ross in 1985, Rice in 2004 and Branch in 2006. The combined branch of 21 catches at Super Bowl XXXVIII and XXXIX is the ultimate in back-to-back Super Bowl. Branch also became the third offensive player to ever win the Super Bowl MVP award without scoring goals or throwing a goal pass. The other two players are Joe Namath in Super Bowl III and Fred Biletnikoff in Super Bowl XI. [5]
Branches and Terrell Owens each have 100 meters receiving, marking the third time in the history of the Super Bowl, one player from each team has over 100 yards in the Super Bowl. Michael Irvin and Andre Reed were the first in Super Bowl XXVII, and the second Branch and Muhsin Muhammad a year earlier in Super Bowl XXXVIII. Branch also became the fourth player to have at least 100 yards receiving in the back-to-back Super Bowl, joining John Stallworth, Jerry Rice and Antonio Freeman. Also, Mike Vrabel and David Givens became the 14th and 15th player to score in the Super Bowl in a row. Vrabel is the most shocking person on this list because he is a linebacker and he scored his offense. They also became the 7th and 8th player to get a touchdown on the back-to-back Super Bowl.
With victory, Tom Brady became the fourth quarterback to win at least three Super Bowls, along with Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana and Troy Aikman. Brady also became the fourth quarterback to throw a touchdown pass in three different Super Bowls. Other Quarterbacks to do so are Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana and John Elway, with Kurt Warner then achieving a feat during the Super Bowl XLIII.
The Patriots join the Dallas Cowboys as the only team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a span of four years.
Aftermath
The Patriots' Super Bowl win was the third championship for the Boston-area sports team in 12 months, after Patriot won the Super Bowl XXXVIII the previous year and the Red Sox won the World-First Series in 86 years-three months earlier. It marks the first time since 1989-1990 in the San Francisco Bay Area that the same market has had 2 Super Bowl and World Series winners in 12 months. The Patriots will then appear on Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI, both lost to Eli Manning New York Giants, before winning Super Bowl XLIX against Seattle Seahawks, 28-24, ten years later and Super Bowl LI against Atlanta Falcons, 34-28 , two years later. The latest Super Bowl win for the Patriots earned him ten titles among four Boston teams (5 by Patriots, 3 by the Red Sox, and by Celtics and Bruins respectively) since 2002.
For the Eagles, with the loss, Philadelphia city will not see its first championship since the 76ers swept the NBA Finals in 1983 until the next time their city team played for the championship, when the Phillies won the World Series 2008. The Eagles did not return to the Super Bowl until 2017, 13-3, and beat Falcons and Vikings in the playoffs.
The Eagles and Patriots meet again at the Super Bowl LII, after the 2017 season, with Elang taking revenge 41-33.
This is the last time the team has won the Super Bowl back-to-back, with the Patriots losing their second playoff game a year later and then, for the next eight years, every team loses their first playoff game or loses them altogether. The streak was broken in 2014 when the Seahawks defeated the Panthers and eventually advanced to the Super Bowl, only to lose from the Patriot goal line. The following year, the Patriots, having stumbled, entered the playoffs as the second seed behind the Broncos, who then defeated New England in the AFC Title Game that year on their way to their own Super Bowl 50. Two Years later, the Patriots, the defending champion of the Super Bowl LI, again repeating their title just to lose LILI LII previously mentioned.

Ads
As usual, this year's Super Bowl television coverage is an exhibition for the most expensive ads on television - both to produce and buy airtime (at a rate of US $ 2.4 million for 30 seconds).
One of the ads that attracted many people's anger - including the NFL - was for internet domain provider Go Daddy, who changed the controversial part-time of the previous year's match with censorship censorship featuring a beautiful woman, Nikki Cappelli (played by WWE Wrestler Candice Michelle) has a "wardrobe that does not work". Fox pulled the second run of the ad, scheduled for a two-minute warning from the fourth quarter, along with a five-second plug, and it was replaced with a promo for The Simpsons . The World Wide Web domain registration company based in Scottsdale, Arizona gets a refund for the second ad.
Other popular ads created by NFL. It featured a player not in the Super Bowl, led by quarterback Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was at a beach resort, his depression did not make it into Joe Montana entertaining Roethlisberger, and soon Montana and Roethlisberger joined many other players in various locations in the " Tomorrow "off-key but festive from Annie's musical. The ad ends with the slogan: "Tomorrow, we are all invincible again." Roethlisberger went on to lead the Steelers to victory in the Super Bowl XL the following season.
The top ad, as selected by USA Today's Super Bowl Ad Measurers is chosen for Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light featuring a timid skydiver, making his first jump lured by a six-pack of products. This ad ranks second in ADBOWL. The highest commercial rating by ADBOWL is Anheuser-Busch's "Applause."
For the first time since the campaign started in Super Bowl XXI, there's no "I'm going to Disney World!" ads are running following Super Bowl XXXIX.

Each Patriots member receives a $ 68,000 payment to win the match. The Eagles each received $ 36,500. When adjusted for inflation, the Patriots salary is actually less than $ 15,000 paid to Green Bay Packers members to win the Super Bowl I in 1967. The sum of money in 1967 equates to about $ 85,000 in 2005.
