Training
Otorhinolaryngologists are doctors (MD, DO, MBBS, MBChB, etc.) who, in the United States, complete at least five years of surgical residence training. It consists of six months of general surgical training and four and a half years in specialist surgery. In Canada and the United States, practitioners completed a residency training five years after medical school.
Following residency training, some otolaryngologist-head & amp; the neck surgeon completes an advanced sub-specialization fellowship, in which training can be one to two years duration. In the United States and Canada, otorhinolaryngology is one of the most competitive specializations in medicine where to obtain residency positions after medical school.
In the UK admission to otorhinolaryngology higher surgical training is highly competitive and involves a rigorous national selection process. The training program consists of 6 years of higher surgical training after trainees often perform fellowships in sub-specialty before becoming consultants.
