vases ( , , or ) are open containers. These can be made from any number of materials, such as ceramics, glass, non-corrosive metal, such as aluminum, brass, bronze or stainless steel. Even wood has been used to make vases, either by using naturally decaying tree species, such as teak, or by applying a protective coating on conventional wood. Vases are often decorated, and are often used to hold cut flowers.
Vases generally have a similar shape. The legs or base may be round, flat, carinata, or any other form. The body forms the main part of the work. Some vases have shoulders, where the body curves inward, the neck, which gives the height, and the lips, where the vase is lit back at the top. Some vases are also handled.
Various styles and types of vases have been developed around the world in different time periods, such as Chinese ceramics and native American pottery. In ancient Greek pottery "vase-painting" is a traditional term that includes famous painted pottery, often with many characters in scenes from Greek mythology. Such pieces may be referred to as vases regardless of their shape; most are actually used for holding or serving liquids, and many more naturally called cups, jugs and so on. In 2003, Grayson Perry won the Turner Prize for ceramics, usually in the form of vases.

Histori
There is a long history of form and function of vases in almost all developed cultures, and often ceramic objects are the artistic items left over from the lost culture. In the early stages of pottery, the method of winding up is the most widely used technique for making pottery. Winding method is the act of cultivating clay into a long string so that the cylinder shape then becomes a fine wall.

Wheel Potter
Pottery wheels may be found in Mesopotamia in the 4th millennium BC, but spread across almost all Eurasians and most of Africa, though remain unknown in the New World until the arrival of Europeans. The earliest discovery of the origin of the pottery wheel is in southern Iraq. The discovery of this technique is beneficial to the people of southern Iraq because it serves as a substitute for their previously inefficient tradition. With this new technique, it will grow gradually and even be adopted for the use of earthenware decoration.
Park vase
Garden vases are usually V-shaped but they can also be cylindrical or bowl. They are usually made of ceramics or, today, plastics. Examples are Torlonia Vase and Medici Vase at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
