LaserShip is a regional regional regional shipping company serving the Eastern and Midwestern regions of the United States. Founded in 1986, LaserShip is based in Vienna, Virginia and has a sorting center in New Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina, and Florida.
By 2016, LaserShip has 63 distribution centers and four sorting centers serving 22 states and Washington, D.C.. Laspor handles shipments for Amazon and other ecommerce retailers across the US.

Histori
LaserShip began as a document delivery service in 1986. In the 1990s, LaserShip landed in a small parcel business during the dot-com boom. In 1999, the company partnered with Barnes & amp; Noble to provide same day delivery service in New York City.
In March 2014 LaserShip added four countries to its service areas: New Hampshire, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Delaware. This broadens the LaserShip footprint by up to 44 percent, reaching an additional 8.5 million consumers.
Also in March 2014, LaserShip acquired the last delivery company from Cleveland, Prestige Delivery Systems, expanding its services to Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Indiana.

Operation
An important part of LaserShip's business is the delivery of e-commerce residential packages. The entire LaserShip operation is broken down into three areas: Residential E-Commerce Delivery, Special Order Courier, and Global Critical Delivery.
Residential E-Commerce Delivery
Residential E-Commerce shipments include shipments on the same day, next day, and two days in 21 states. LaserShip uses a hub-and-spoke network to send packets in residential areas from four sorting centers and 63 distribution centers.
Custom Successive Courier
Custom Routed Courier includes a dedicated/dedicated service, on-demand on the same day, and the next day for business. LaserShip's Specially Designated Courier Operations are located in 22 states in East and Midwest USA.
Global Critical Delivery
The Global Critical Shipping Division serves the aviation, health/medical, entertainment, automotive and industrial industries. Its operations include shipments to North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and some locations in South America and the Middle East.
Dispute and settlement
Pack throw
Package throwing has become an ongoing issue in e-commerce shipments with national carriers such as UPS and FedEx that handle this issue for years. USPS also continues to struggle with throwing packages and even Amazon.com. In one incident from 2016, a LaserShip delivery man was caught in a tape throwing a $ 500 camera lens a few feet to a concrete-lined terrace. [10] In March 2017, a customer caught a delivery man throwing a packet containing a router on a tape, damaging the content, and reporting the incident to LaserShip.
Error classification and driver inaccuracy
The error of classification of independent contractors has disrupted transportation, among many other industries, for decades. FedEx should continue to address this issue, completing the 2017 case by 227 Million. In April 2018, the California Supreme Court issued a key decision in the matter of Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. The Los Angeles Superior Court ruled that the drivers were not independent contractors.
In April 2014, LaserShip achieved a $ 800,000 class-action settlement, despite winning a court opinion on the matter, with drivers in Massachusetts accusing the company of misclassifying them as independent contractors to save money. [12] In November 2015, a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York stating that workers were denied overtime payments, unauthorized reimbursement of compensation received, and for other offenses of the Fair Standard Labor Standards. [13] The outcome of this litigation is still in process.

In September 2014, LaserShip reached a $ 5 million settlement with New York City for non-tax cigarette shipments.
