HotelTonight is a mobile travel app for iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows devices that allows users to find discount hotel accommodation up to seven days in advance across America, Europe and Australia. Due to the nature of the booking at the last moment, the app can offer a substantial discount from the listed hotel rates. Since its launch in 2010, HotelTonight has been downloaded by over 15 million users.

History
HotelTonight was founded in December 2010 by entrepreneurs Sam Shank, Jared Simon, and Chris Bailey. Shank, the company's CEO, has previously set up two travel pioneering companies, DealBase.com and TravelPost. TravelPost, founded in 2004, hosts hotel reviews, and DealBase, established in 2008, combines and compares hotel deals. Shank says he wants to create a "problem-solving service" I need a hotel right now "and get you quickly into a room for a great price."
When first launched in January 2011, apps were only available in the US and on Apple products. This app was launched on Android devices in July 2011 and now covers cities in Europe, Canada, Central America, and South America. HotelTonight has raised $ 80.7 million in funding from US Venture Partners, Accel Partners, Battery Ventures, First Round Capital, GGV Capital, Templates: Sean Grusd and Coatue Management.
In October 2014, HotelTonight expanded from bookings only on the same day allowing users to book rooms up to 7 days in advance.
After several years of losing money, in August 2016, HotelTonight began planning an IPO after it began to break even.
