Migraine Acephalgic (also called migraine acephalalgic , migraine aura without headache , migraine amigran , migraine visual isolated , and optical migraines ) are neurologic syndromes. This is a relatively uncommon migraine variant in which the patient may experience aura, nausea, photophobia, hemiparesis, and other migraine symptoms, but do not experience headaches. It is generally classified as an event that meets migraine conditions with aura without (or minimal) headaches. Sometimes differentiated from migraine aura is only visual without headache, also called ocular migraine.

Acephalgic migraines can occur in individuals of all ages. Some individuals, more commonly men, have only acephalgic migraines, but often patients also experience migraines with headaches. Generally, this condition is more than twice as likely to occur in women than in men. Pediatric acephalgic migraine is listed along with other childhood syndromes by W.A. Al-Twaijri and M.I. Shevell as an "equivalent migraine" (though not listed as such in the International Headache Disorders Classification), can be a good predictor of future migraine development. Individuals who have acephalgic migraines in childhood are very likely to develop a typical migraine as they grow older. Among women, incidence increased acephalgic migraine during perimenopause.

The scintillating Scotoma is the most common symptom that usually occurs in conjunction with the Expanding Fortification Spectra. Also often reported is monocular blindness. Acephalgic migraine usually does not last more than a few hours and can last only for 15 seconds. Sometimes, they can continue for up to two days.

Acephalgic migraine may resemble a transient ischemic attack or, when longer in duration, stroke. Conclusions of other symptoms such as photophobia and nausea may be helpful in determining the right diagnosis. Occasionally, patients with acephalgic migraine are misdiagnosed as epilepsy with visual seizures, but misdiagnosis is otherwise more common.

Treatment

The prevention and treatment of acephalgic migraines is generally the same as classic migraine, but symptoms are usually milder than classical migraine, so treatment is not necessary.
